Environmental Health and Safety Technician

Partners Environmental Consulting, Inc. (Partners) is a growing environmental, safety, engineering and surveying consulting firm with its corporate office in Solon, Ohio, and branch offices in Akron, Ohio, and the states of New York, New Jersey and Colorado.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2-5 years of experience. A minimum of a two (2) year associate degree in a science, engineering, occupational safety and health or environmental discipline is required. A bachelor’s degree is a plus.

  • Experience in safety and/or environmental roles in a manufacturing/industrial/ construction safety environment.
  • Well versed in local and industrial EHS regulation.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to positively influence teams within the organization.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Environmental experience, including air and water sampling and understanding of permit applicability, SPCC and Stormwater Plan implementation.
  • Experience performing audits, job site inspections and tracking corrective actions.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, risk assessment & reduction, developing and administering training programs, accident investigation and resolution.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety compliance, incident investigating and reporting protocols.
  • Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
  • Skilled in supervising, evaluating, training and motivating employees.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • First Aid/AED Certification is a plus.

Preference would be given to candidates that have professional certifications from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals such as OHST, CHST, and current 501 or 500 OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer but are not required Other areas of desired experience include air emissions and permitting; wastewater and stormwater permitting and compliance; waste evaluation, handling and disposal; SPCC and release prevention and response; PSM/RMP; DOT HAZMAT; SARA/EPCRA evaluations and reporting; AST/UST compliance; PCBs/TSCA. Current 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and OSHA 30 Hour training (Construction or General Industry within 5 years) certificates is required. The ability to interface effectively with internal staff and external Clients is a must. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to manage multiple priorities are critical.
