Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund
Former Clauss Cutlery
Fremont, Ohio
Partners authored a successful Round 7 Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund (CORF) grant for the City of Fremont, Ohio to conduct multiple activities at the former Clauss Cutlery Facility. The site had been used to manufacture industrial shears, scissors and other cutlery and is approximately 3.3 acres in size. Partners is serving as Certified Professional (CP) and our work includes the preparation of specifications and contractor bidding for over $4,000,000 worth of remedial activities. These services include asbestos abatement, building demolition, remediation contractor services, trench recovery system installation and waste disposal (universal, solid and hazardous wastes).
Partners is also managing all environmental consulting activities, including remediation system design, asbestos abatement, remedial action plan (RAP) preparation, No Further Action Program (NFA) letter preparation, closure of hazardous waste units, and underground storage tank (UST) closure. The cleanup involves the innovative use of soy bean oil to remediate trichloroethene and its daughter compounds in soil and groundwater at the Property. The project is highly visible, as nearby residential properties surround the Property and Ohio EPA has been actively involved in the project due to recently settled environmental litigation.
