Part-Time Project Engineer

Partners, a growing environmental, safety, engineering and surveying firm based in Ohio, and with offices in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Colorado seeks a Part-Time Project Engineer. The position will be based in one of Partners’ Northeast Ohio offices (Solon or Akron), but can be supported by remote work if the candidate has access to the necessary IT platform and AutoCAD 3D program licensing.

The Part-Time Project Engineer will report to the Associate Director of Land Development Services. This person primarily performs engineering tasks in an office environment but may also support periodic field work, such as surveying and construction inspections. The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in civil engineering and at least five (5) years of technical experience. The candidate must be well versed in standard site development improvement plan preparation and design, including; site layout, utility design, grading, plan and profile preparation, detail development, regulatory code review and analysis, storm sewer design, stormwater management design, SWPPP design, and document preparation. The candidate must have extensive experience with AutoCAD, preferably Civil 3D. Partners is looking for an individual who can think outside of the box and develop cost-effective solutions for our clients. This is a part-time position with the possibility of leading to a full-time opportunity.

General Duties

  • Perform General Project Engineer Duties,
  • Perform Stormwater Calculations,
  • Provide QA/QC of Survey and Engineering Deliverables,
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare engineering documents,
  • Perform hydraulic and hydrologic calculations,
  • Prepare Stormwater Management reports,
  • Prepare Long Term Maintenance Agreements,
  • Develop site grading plans and earthwork calculations,
  • Prepare cost estimates,
  • Review RFI’s, submittals, and specifications,
  • Address regulatory comments,
  • Work closely with other company disciplines, and
  • Maintain a high level of professional and technical knowledge.

General Skills, Experience and Education

  • Professional Engineers (PE) License in Ohio is not required but preferred,
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Site/Civil Engineering Design,
  • Experience in residential, commercial and industrial developments,
  • Small and large format, commercial site engineering,
  • Public Sector Site Improvement Project experience a plus,
  • ODOT project experience, ODOT certifications for sewer, water and roadway engineering are desired, but not required,
  • Thorough understanding of state and local technical and professional standards and local requirements,
  • Knowledge and understanding of local and regional markets and requirements,
  • Excellent communication skills, and
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software.
