Custom Rubber Compounding Facility

Partners conducted a comprehensive Environmental, Health and Safety Audit of a custom rubber compounding facility.

Health and Safety Programs audited included, but were not limited to:

  • Accident/Incident Reporting;
  • Industrial Hygiene;
  • Hazard Communication (HAZCOM), Labels, MSDSs;
  • Laboratory Hazardous Chemicals;
  • Occupational Noise Exposure / Hearing Protection;
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
  • Fire Protection; Housekeeping;
  • Confined Space Entry;
  • Welding, Cutting and Brazing; Hand and Portable Tools;
  • Platforms and Lifts; Walking/Working Surfaces; Stairs, Ladders and Scaffolds;
  • Lockout/Tagout, Electrical Systems, Machinery & Guarding;
  • Bloodborne Pathogens; and;
  • Emergency Response, HAZWOPER; Medical Services and First Aid. Environmental Programs audited included:
    • Air emissions and permitting,
    • Waste water discharges and permitting,
    • Storm water permitting and management,
    • Solid and hazardous waste generation and handling,
    • Spill prevention (SPCC) and storage tanks,
    • Emergency planning/response and Community Right-to-Know (EPCRA/SARA),
    • PCB management,
    • Asbestos-containing materials, and,
    • Hazardous materials transportation (DOT HAZAT).

Partners developed recommendations to address EH&S Audit Findings, and prioritized the findings to assist the facility in managing their completion.
