Former St. Michael’s Hospital
Partners was selected by the City of Cleveland to conduct all environmental activities for the redevelopment of the former St. Michael’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. This large, campus style facility contained over 10 structures, with nearly 1,000,000 square feet of space. The primary asbestos consideration was pipe insulation, which was used to insulate water and steam lines throughout the facility, originating from a central boiler room. Partners conducted pre-demolition inspections, prepared detailed specifications, conducted contractor bidding and supported selection of an abatement contractor for the City of Cleveland’s Demolition Bureau. Partners represented the City and Cuyahoga County as the Certified Professional for this project, which proceeded through the Voluntary Action Program (VAP). Funding for the project was received through a number of resources and Partners coordinated the investigations at the site to comply with several funding mechanisms and associated requirements, including U.S. EPA Assessment and Cleanup Grants and the Cuyahoga County Brownfield Revolving Loan Fund.
