Partners Environmental Selected as Top Consultant for Cuyahoga County Brownfield Program

Solon, Ohio - 2/24/15 - Recently, Cuyahoga County's Department of Development conducted a public bidding process to select consultants for their Brownfield Redevelopment Fund Community Assessment Initiative (CAI), which provides professional services to conduct Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessment on Brownfields contaminated with hazardous substances and/or petroleum products in Cuyahoga County. Partners Environmental, a Solon and Akron Ohio based environmental, engineering and surveying consulting firm was ranked #1 by Cuyahoga County. Responding to their selection, Dan B. Brown, Partners' President, stated "knowing that Cuyahoga County is essentially where Brownfield redevelopment began in this country, it is a true honor to be selected by this successful and ground breaking program as their top consultant".

Since the County's initial revolving loan fund (RLF) award of $350,000 in 1997, these funds have been an essential part of the brownfield redevelopment of 16 sites in Cuyahoga County. The County has cleaned up over 130 acres, created or retained over 2,200 jobs, and leveraged over $450 million through its Brownfield program alone. The County contracts directly with the most appropriate environmental consultants to conduct assessments that meet the USEPA's All Appropriate Inquiry (AAI) with the option to complete the assessment activities under the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Voluntary Action Program (VAP) and/or the State of Ohio's Bureau of Underground Storage Tank Regulations' (BUSTR) 3-Tier Evaluation process. Other services may include urban setting designations (USD), Risk Assessments, Asbestos and Lead-Based Paint Surveys, Remedial Action Plans (RAPs), Regulatory File Reviews, and BUSTR site assessments. Additional funding for the County's Brownfield projects may be provided by the County's Western Reserve Fund, or State of Ohio Brownfield Programs, such as JobsOhio.

Partners has been affiliated with Cuyahoga County since the inception of their Brownfield program and looks forward to continuing this long standing relationship to improve the community utilizing best practices in brownfield redevelopment to create a sustainable, attractive and healthy environment.
